Uber recently announced it updated its driver and passenger apps with a new feature that allows the passenger to add his/her destination.
This is mostly catch up as other apps like Sidecar and Lyft already have this feature. Sidecar requires the passenger to enter the destination before requesting the ride. With Lyft it is optional but the benefit is that the driver gets to choose what navigation app they want to use. When the passenger enters a destination the Lyft app notifies the driver and asks if he/she wants directions. If the driver accepts, the app automatically opens the navigation app the driver prefers and enters the destination address.
Uber claims they want to keep the driver on the same app, so they integrated the navigation into their app. Lets just hope their navigation is as reliable as these other veteran applications.
