Announced on October 20 UberX, Lyft and Sidecar are now approved to operate at San Francisco International Airport. A week ago SFO had approved Sidecar but now all 3 services can drop off and pickup at SFO.

In addition SFO also approved Uber to offer UberPOOL which allows sharing a ride by two parties with a similar route. Sidecar is banned from offering their Shared Rides feature and Lyft said they will soon be offering their version called Lyft Plus.
“We are committed to be an industry leader, creating a roadmap for innovative business models like Lyft and UberX to operate legally in an airport,” SFO Airport Director John L. Martin said in a statement. “We’re proud to be the first airport in the U.S. to have both signed permits from both companies. This gives customers at SFO more choice, without compromising our focus on safety and security.”
Good news and hopefully other airports will follow suit and offer more options to their customers since its a service many want to use.
I recently used Uber on my trip to New York and at LAX. I will be writing about my experience this week. If you are planning a trip to New York area I recommend you read. I also had a bad experience with an Uber driver, it was my first bad experience and I contacted Uber. Check out my post to see what Uber had to say.
UPDATE: Sidecar is shutdown. Uber and Lyft available at airport.
