Orange County Supervisors earlier this month agreed to permit Uber, Lyft and other ride-sharing firms to pickup passengers at the third largest airport in Southern California, John Wayne Airport.

Currently you could request a ride through uber but only a limited amount of vehicles with commercial license and airport permit were allowed to pickup passengers. Making it sometimes difficult to find a ride from the airport.
Once Uber, Lyft and other ride-sharing firms apply for the new operating permit that will allow pickup of passengers, it is believed that any of its drivers in the area would be eligible to pickup passengers.

If you are currently planning on using Uber or Lyft before this approval is processed and you are having trouble requesting a ride from the curb. Do what many experienced travelers have been doing, cross Mac Arther Blvd and request your ride. All services are available once you cross the street and it is a very short walk.
Until the new permits are issued this is a work around you could use. This is one of the reasons why OC supervisors supported the new permit because of the people wanting this service and going out of the way to use the service.
